Hi, Guys, Ive moved on from the 14XX to contemplate putting together a 5" Britannia. The 14XX will give me driving experience through the summer whilst the Brit will keep me tied down in the winter, A friend has described it as a 5 year project, which at my age is a bit frightening - will I last that long? However I have a cunning plan which is to buy as many spare parts, unwanted fittings etc as I can get hold of from the ModelWorks, Winson market to add to my scratch building efforts. I have cheated a bit by buying a second hand boiler and chassis to give me a start but would be really interested to hear of anyone who could sell me "kit for the Brit". Things like the ash pan and grating, backhead fittings, tender body, (I have the chassis), valve gear, reversing gear etc. Best regards to everyone, Mott PS My 14XX is running OK but did you see the paint job on the other 1451. I would be happy to do a swap !!!!

"Will you last that long?"
I recall one of our engineers who was ninety four told me that as long as he still had a loco to build then the grim reaper knows that he has to wait his turn.
May be that is why he is currently building yet another one and has the parts for the follow on building up ready to go.

Doug Hewson is the first person that comes to mind for cast buffers, water filter boxes spring hangers, draw hooks, manifold and I think was preparing a tender body for the various standard class designs he is working through in Engineering in minature. Dave Noble does water guages etc. Model Engineers laser for motion.
Caveat is that I haven't used some of these companies (yet!)

Thanks both for your comments. I am aware of Doug Hewson and Blackgates as main suppliers of castings and parts and indeed I am/have bought for them. My point really was that there are,I suspect, Britannia kits which have not been completed , for whatever reason, and if those owners would like to sell some of the bits and pieces they are holding I would be more than interested.Mott
