Hi all,
I am planning on building a 5" gauge Simplex boiler in the next few weeks, and was wondering if anyone has a set of formers, or know where I can obtain some as this would reduce the amount of time needed dramatically.
Thanks Steambuff

Hi SteamBuff Are you asking for formers for flanging the plates or making the firebox wrapper?

Hi Andy, Thanks for your reply, I should have stated that as I will be starting from scratch, I will be looking ideally for both the formers to make the flanged plates and also the former to make the fire box wrapper. That would be the best scenario but obviously either would be a good start.
Thanks Les (steambuff)

Hi Steambuff I purchased my plates ready flanged from Blackgates so I dont have those but I do have the formers for the inner and outer firebox. That said, if you make the outer firebox wrapper from a seperate sheet of copper then it is easy to form with a set of rolls and you dont have the join with the side extension to worry about in the 'legs' and I would make the inner in a similar way a use a press to put the sharper bend in the inner wrapper. Drop me a PM and see if we can work out a way of getting them to you.
