Hello, has anyone built, or is building the Fowler A7 2" scale traction engine from MJ Engineering? I particularly would like to know how they got on attaching the hornplates to the boiler and then the tender to the hornplates. What fixings did they use for the hornplate to the boiler? My build is being diaried on my web site www.mikes-models.com. Many thanks in anticipation. Mike.

I am getting close to that stage. I plan to shim the boiler with thin copper washers as there is a few thou variance in width and then tap the hollow stays M4, I will then use M4 button head socket screws to hold the plates in place.
You can see my progress on MJ's site, Alan has just added it to the gallery section.

Hi there when I did my 3"Burrell (same principal)I machined dome headed bolts ( to simulate rivets ) in stainless to go through the hollow stays and nutted them on the inside I would not use steel if you are fixing in copper as you will probably get a reaction

Hi Mike, I am building this engine as well, but progress is to date not far enough to answer your question.
But one comment: Your website link is not working. But Im interested in your building diary! Can you check the link please??

It's the full stop on the end of the link that stops it working. Delete that and it works ok. John
