Hi, I'm building a 3.5"g A4 Pacific "Mallard". This is being built from A3 castings and drawings and modified as necessary. I am now having problems with the streamlining as I have no drawings only a few photos. Can anyone advise please. Kind regards, Bertmac.

Hi Bertmac Don Young did a set of drawings in 5" gauge that might help otherwise see if you find a set of Calrckson drawings, but dont hold your breath!! Otherwise take a trip to the reading room at the Railway museum and have a look at the originals

hi Bertmac a fair number of A4's has been built over the last few years ,may i sugest you try an ad in Model Engineer or Engineering in miniature or, have a trip up to the north yorks moors railway's workshop ,they are overhauling Sir Nigel Gresley at the moment, they are a very freindly lot i'm sure they will help you out, secially if you take your chasis with you. Or you can try to locate some of Don Youngs mag "locomotives large and small", he did some very good drawings of the A4 shape. Good luck SMM

or if you dont want to flog up to yorkshire you could try the Mid Hants Railway Workshops. Bittern is in there and the casing is on but the boiler is'nt, (at least is was'nt last week. so you can stand inside the casing as well as outside, pretty unusual!
Good luck

Hi, Thanks to Greasemonkey, Steammadman and Steamjohn248 for the advice and info. It certainly looks like I may have to make a trip to the NRM in York when I can find the time. Thanks again, Bertmac.

Hi Bertmac.. If you can get hold of it you might beable to rescale Chris Barrons 2.5" guage drawing..that might have all the detail you need...take a look on the 2.5 Associations site for details of how to get hold of him....i did this for summit i was working on...and it solved all the probs......
