I'm trying to work out if an ML7 qctp will fit my new Perfecto, the topslide of which looks like this The raised square section is 2 1/4" square but that platform on which the tool rests is only just over 3/8" below the lathe centre line. Can somebody with an ML7 compare these measurements or tell me what theirs are. Any other sensible suggestions welcomed - I really miss the qctp on my little chinese jobby. Cheers, Andy

Hi Andy,
the platform on my ML7 is just over 5/8" below centre height. You might be struggling to get the tool tip low enough. I can't use a lot of my lathe tools in the qctp on the ML7 for that reason.

Thanks John, I can see I'm going to have to get hold of one and experiment, I reckon I could safely mill 1/8" off that land but any more might seriously weaken the bolt hole - can't see me finding spares too easily either Cheers, Andy

Hi Andy,
Just a thought - have you looked at the qctps for the smaller chinese lathes such as the C3 sold by Arc Euro etc. ? They might be a better bet than the Myford ones? Certainly a lot cheaper.

Thanks John, hadn't thought of that - Ive got a c1 so the qctp mounts on the cross slide so is relatively tall, assumed the others were similar. I'll check next week, on hols this week, Lake district, country cottage, log fires, no engineering and banned off the pc so I'm not really here ok Hey it's not my fault the place has a wireles broadband connection is it! Andy, withdrawal symptoms after 2 days - I must be bad.
