A date for your diaries folks.
I'm organising a Diesel Day (or at any rate non-steam day) at Malden DSME on Sunday 18 September 2005.
I hope to bring along a handful of 5" locos including two class 08s running double headed and with luck also a pair of class 37s running double headed together with my monster, petrol powered, narrow gauge shunter.
All are welcome. I'd appreciate people letting me know if they are planning to come. Also if you have any questions about the event please do drop me a line. My email address is dieselday@alexandra.org.uk .
Malden has two circuits each about 1/3 mile. One is ground level and for 7.25". The other is elevated and for 3.5", 5" and light 7.25" The Malden website www.malden-dsme.co.uk is well worth a look.
18 September is a Malden train playing day and it is likely that some steam locos will be running. Visiting steam locos (with boiler certificates) are not verboten but Malden are having a Visiting Club Day on 9 October and it may therefore be better to bring them to that especially as on 9 October Stella will produce her culinary masterpieces. I can forward questions about 9 October to the right quarters. Again we'd love to see you but we'd like to know in advance who is likely to turn up, if only so Stella knows how many to cater for.
18 September will I hope also mark 3 years of happy married life since it will be my 18th wedding anniversary. I may therefore be injured on the day but I hope they'll mainly be flesh wounds.
