Hi People,
I have just amanged to acquire a turret mill ( Gate Profitmill ) and it has a 2 axis DRO console and scales ( Anilam Microwizard ).
However, I want to use a DRO in full 3 axis mode with the additional 2 scales on the knee and quill ( z0 and z1 Axis )....... In other words, if i set Z axis to 0.00mm on the console, and move quill down 10mm it should read -10.00, and then if I move the knee up by 10mm it should read 0.00 again.
Budget is an issue, so, my questions are :
Who knows of a cheapish 3 axis console that "mixes" the Z axis, or allows 4 inputs ? I have been told that a there is a "mixer" box available to "add" the Quill and Knee signals together to auto compensate for each other ??
I have another 3 axis console ( Shumatech DRO350 ) that I can use, but it wont mix the knee and quill, so if I can find the "mixer" box it will solve the problem, hopefully cheaper than a new console. If not then looks like I will either have to go without, or spend more money on a new console.
Any ideas ??
Rgds Keith

Hi there Keith maybe of not much use to you but on my Bridgeport I wanted to measure the quill movement so I fitted a vertical digital slide. So far it has worked perfectly. Obviously the knee is independant but you could use your third axis for that.

Try asking on one of the American sites like CNCZONE, they are far more advanced on techy toys than us.

Keith, 2 sources! Try YahooGroups MillDrill and YahooGroups Shumatech.
Not stealing your post but Lidl and Aldi are flogging digital calipers but they have changed the voltage. Worth a look, folks Norm

HI Guys, Thanks for this. Spent some time investigating and after being offered a new Anilam for £960 +VAT just for the console I sourced a "mixer" box....... trouble is the price £174 + vat !!!!!!!! Unless anyone has a 2nd hand one spare ?? I can then use my £225 Sino 3 axis console and do all that the Anilam box offers Rgds Keith
