Hi,
Just wondering if anybody has got a drawing for a loco stand/spit as i am struggling to design my own even though it is probably very easy.
Cheers Tom

A couple of years ago, there ws a superb example on the Ickenham SME stand at the ME exhibition. Look for their website and it might be shown there, or email the contact on their site asking about it.

Hi Tom, Alan mentions a loco stand he'd seen at the ME. I know that loco stand well, having lifted it in and out of the back of the owner's Land Rover on more than one occasion. It is what you would call substantial. It was designed for use with a 5" gauge model of a Ffestiniog Railway prototype (Taliesin, a single Fairlie) which is quite a chunky loco for the gauge. The loco can be raised or lowered (to get in in and out of said Land Rover) and rotated as on a spit, and the stand can be wheeled around. As I say, a big piece of kit, but well made for the job. Let me know if you want more details and I'll have a word with the guy who built it. It might take a couple of weeks as he's off on holiday at the weekend I think. John

ME Vol 195, No.4253, p162 My pal Colin Abrey described a Locomotive Building Stand...might be worth a peep at that.
