In a thread a little while ago someone mentioned Screwfix aerosol tapping fluid. My can of this is nearly empty and I bought it so long ago that I've lost the details of the cat. number. Can't find it in the current catalogue, can anyone tell me where it is? Or has it been discontinued?

No sign of it at Screwfix, but here is a substitute I have used Cutting Fluid

If you can't find the Screwfix item, I can recommend Rocol RTD liquid. It's not an aerosol, but I use it as cutting fluid as well as for tapping. Expensive, but a 400g bottle lasts me a long time, Peter

Just a word of caution on RTD I also use it extensively and a bottle lasts for ages. But when I was turning blue chips on my Myford 7, the smoke that came off rusted my chuck and lath bed so it seems to contain something corrrosive. Moral of the story - don't use it where you are likely to produce hot swarf. Jack
