Hi Folks,
Have got a set of Reeves drawings, RV69, for their passenger bogie in 7.25". Does anyone know if they are a model of any full size bogie or are they just freelance?
The side castings are clearly too thick to be scale themselves but what about the overall bogie?
Any ideas appreciated Chris.

Hi Chris I belive they are based on the American 'Andrews Truck'. I dont know of anyone who uses them in 7.25" but Don Young produced a drawing to simplify construction for the 5" gauge version which is a proven design and a good runner. I dont think they were ever used over here in the 'fullsize' world unlike the 'Gould Standard (Bettendorf) Trucks' which had a variation used on the southern region.

Thanks Andy, It seems a shame to put so much effort into making some bogies when they are not a model of something. Just for running they seem too complicated to me.
Do you or anyone else know of a design and or castings for 7.25"gauge goods wagons which are a reasonably good representation of something British?
Cheers Chris.

Hi Chris I heard a rumor that someone was tooling up to produce the GWR plate frame bogie in 7.25". This design was used by BR as well so should enable a range of models to be produced. The LNER and SR used the bar frame bogie, of which varients were used in the USA so it might be worth a quick google for American suppliers. Scale rolling stock hasnt really taken of in 7.25" yet like it has for 5" so it is not easy to find. I will keep a look out.

Hi Andy, The plate frame gwr bogie would be interesting, Dave Noble does one in 5" and there is a picture of it on his website. They are very simple and in fact probably a lot simpler than the Reeves type. Most of it could be laser cut, with castings just for the axleboxes. Step forward the supplier or alternatively has any one got a full size drawing of one that I could scale for cutting out? A good supplier of 7.25" gauge rolling stock is Joe Nemeth at Scaleway Signals. www.scalewaysignals.com. Chris.
