I am currently building a track around my garden for a 7 1/4 "040"train , can any one please let me know of the minimum radius for a 180 degree corner . we are currently working on the radius of 12.6 ft . will this be in the right area of size . hope for a reply cheers george

According to www.alanstepney.info/page24.html the minimum radius for 7 1/4" is 30ft. However, that allows for the average passenger loco to run round without too much reduction in speed. For a short fixed wheelbase engine, or rolling stock, one can reduce that figure considerably. It is quite simple to calculate what the minimum will be, but the simple answer is that for, for example Tich x2, yes, it will run round 12.5 FT Radius.

As far as I know that the min RAD is 20 X the fixed wheel base .The greater the better .
