Hi,
I have been looking at the various contributions to this Forum for some time now. During this time I have spent a while looking for an explanation of all the various little icons that are dotted around all over this Forum. I have yet to find a description of what they are.
As an example, the other day I noticed that one of the threads had a padlock against it, today I see one of the threads has a question mark. On this page, where I am composing this message (the Post Message page), there are dozens more.
Can anyone point me to a page that explains what all these little icons really mean?
Cheers,
Roger Mason, in St. Agnes.

I don't think that there is an easily referenceable source of help on the icons, but here's a couple of notes: When you post a message to the forums you will see a "Message Icon" setting underneath the subject line - this governs the icon that will appear in the second column on the thread - there is a dropdown list that shows you all the icons available. They don't actually mean anything formally - their meaning tends to evolve on any board based on a convention that the members use. The other icons to which you refer include the padlock - "locked" icon that shows that the thread has been locked and will not accept further postings - this is set by the board administrator or moderator. The last one that you may note is the "sticky" icon that makes sure that a thread stays at the top of the list and is not pushed down by later postings - again this is set by the admin/moderator. Of course you can also embed smileys in your message to highlight ;D any text you feel merits it Best - Andy
