Outshop of No 1

The manufacturers are pleased to announce the outshopping for it's first test run of the 3 1/2" gauge Fowler (ish) 0-4-0.
The previous test where the customer was in attendance and which resulted in half a lap before a crankpin came out, dropped a rod and resulted in tears will not be mentioned again.

It was felt prudent that the customer not be informed of this test and despite the significantly increased load success can be reported ;D





There are issues around keeping the front wheels on the rails on rising gradients but the manufacturers are confident that this can be overcome - primarily by casting a 3kg lump of lead to fill that space in front of the main gear.

We are currently strongly resisting customer requests to name the engine Goldilocks and paint it pink

With this customer, 8 year old grand-daughter, they might as well be
Acceptance trials yesterday, no pictures but a quote :- "best birthday present I've ever had" sums it up. More worrying was her Aunt - " Can I have one?" who at 19 should know better.

30 plus laps from the 12 ah battery and 150W motor was encouraging especially since it wasn't flat when we packed up.

Best bit is it meant I got an uninterrupted test run of our club loco which I have been fixing, and no it isn't right yet, still fizzing from a cylinder to valve chest joint but the new spark arrestor seems OK
