Hello All,
After having followed model engineering in magazine form for most of my life I finally managed to purchase an old Myford ML7 in quite reasonable condition.
Last year I joined the BC Model Engineering society so that I have a number of bodies I can call on for assistance. My first project will be a 5" ga "Super Simplex", (I prefer it's looks to the smaller boilered "Simplex".) Having being a draughtsman for most of my working career I set about re-drawing (in electronic format) the Xerox copies I received from the owner of the Simplex web site. Drawing electronically enables one to assemble all the parts on the screen and hopefully identify any errors before manufacture. I have found a number of errors already but have now been trying to lay out the valve gear. My copy of the drawing showing the radius rod, anchor link and eccentric rod was chopped off at the top and I am missing the center to center dimensions of these components. They appear on page 638 of Model Engineer dated 19th May 1989. Is there anyone out there who can assist with the printed dimensions. I have laid out the valve gear so that it appears to work correctly but am interested in the dimensions as given by Martin Evans in the above article. The BCSME have a library of Model Engineer magazines from, I believe the first edition but the particular volume containing the relevent article is missing !. Any help please ?.
