Last week-end, I filmed the working of the Maudslay engine at the Kew Bridge Steam Museum, and I have just finished uploading it to Youtube, and post this link lest anyone is interested: Tip: watch the video on Youtube and select "watch in high quality" to make it look better - if you have a reasonably fast broadband connexion.

Very interesting James. I visited the Kew station in the mid 80's and recall the 'driver' of the 90" engine telling us that on the power stroke, when the engine lifts the weight, the acceleration is comparable to a Saturn V rocket! Hard to imagine but if you stand and watch the weight on it's lift you get some idea.
