Hi every body
If any body has a Myford VMC miller can they tell me if the T Tables tapered gib strip is exactly the same length as the seat they sit in to the end of each counter bore hole, and if the adjusting screws are within the counter bore holes when fitted?

Sorry Wayne, do not have one - but may get one!
Surely Myford can tell you - they are usually pretty helpful.

I have a VMC been really pleased with it, problem I have at the moment is when I move the main table it's goes tight in one direction and loose in the other. Suspect the jib strip is loose between the two adjuster screws. Either that or I have a probem with one of the locking pins on the front of the table. Am going to strip it down when I get time and have a look. It's easy to get the jib strip out, just take the adjuster screws out and push it out, try not to drop it as from memory i thinks it's cast iron. You can then check the adjuster pins arn't bottoming out before they contact the end of the gib strip then.

Thanks for the replies The last two messages have hit the nail on the head, my adjusting screws are not entering the counter bore holes at all, it seams to me that the gib strip is too long, if i tighten the gib strip I have to take the right hand adjuster of as it runs out of thread and falls out. I could do with the a measurement of the length of another gib strip for the slotted table so I can compare. Ps Myford have hardly any spares left for the VMC (according to Malcolm) Thanks Wayne

I've only just spotted this thread Wayne but have experienced exactly the same problem.
My machine is Warco rather than Myford, but by my understanding they are very, very similar.
I hit the problem a year or two back. I spoke to Roger Warren and we concluded that the hacksaw provided the best solution.
I seem to recall cutting off about 1/2" from the thin/left end. Problem resolved.
I reckon that you get quite a lot of bedding-in wear in the early years of a new machine. Mine's been fine since.
