I drilled and reamed my four coupling rod blanks today to try out on the newly quartered wheels, anticipating a bit of file work to ease the fit before drilling out for bushes. To my great surprise and astonishment, the rods fitted without easing the holes, and the coupled wheels all go round smoothly! Is this supposed to happen on one's first loco? Or did I get lucky? Reading further, I note that I have to spoil this piece of good luck by enlarging the bushes to cater for mucky roads..... Great motivation though to see something actually go round!! JB

Let me tell you that has nothing to do with luck , it is careful quartering operation ,but the bad news is that as you build more and get a little too confident you will have different type of surprises , that is if you are like me ( I hope you are not) . Well done
