Hello all, I have started building the 6" Ruston Proctor from LSM .This is my first Tracion engine and would very much like to hear from and correspond with anyone who is building the same. I want to make the curved link for the valve gear next but there is a missing dimension for the top pivot hole.Actually it is dimension'd but not from any sort of datum. It shows it dimension from halfway along the sloping end of the curved slot . Thank you,Mike

You might want to try asking in the model section of TractionTalk Forum, it gets a lot more activity and I think there is a R&P builder on there. Failing that can you post a scan or the relavant part of the drawing www.tractiontalkforum.com/The expansion link on my Minnie is dimensioned in the same way, its easy enough to use a bit of trig to work out the position, the center line of the hole is on the radius of the center of the curved slot, the slot length is usually given above and below a horizontal center line and just ad the dim you have to this. The Fowler I'm doing at the moment is similar. Jason

Drop Albert a PM. He's built one and it is top of my list for a traction engine build. Iwill be intrested to hear how you get on any problems you come across.
