Here is a photo of the chimney for anyone who may be interested and JB, which I made at work during the "snow" days. I decided not to use a casting as it looked more work to machine than one from the solid. It produced a huge amount of swarf to finish but i was quite pleased with the end product. It is made from three seperate pieces. The AA battery next to it gives an idea of the actual size it is a fairly big and heavy chimney for 5" gauge. I was supposed to be collecting the boiler from Western steam this weekend but have to put it off until next weekend so will have to find some other part to make this week. Mike [ ][/img]

Nice work on the base. Is it machined or hand worked?

Hi Simon the base was mostly machined, I flycut the underside and then turned the top profile leaving just a small amount on the sides to blend in on the pedastal grinder, files and then emery whilst spinning in the lathe. Mike
