While waiting for the next AME, with part 3 of the Ridley build, I've started on the Harold Hall dividing head. Anyone else building/built/thinking-of-building one of these? Thus far, I've got thus far (actually a little further as I have now split the bearings). Spindle nose is a copy of the Myford, for obvious reasons.

Blimey, Tel, you have been busy.
I have been fiddling around making my own dividing head out of bits in the parts bin (based around the cast leadscrew bracket off a scrap lathe), but I am struggling to get a tidy way to mount it to the deck of Centec (its got a really small table). Problem I have is the casting is too wide to bolt directly down to the T-slots on my Centec, and at the gear end the face is flush. I may have to resort to a long base plate.
I wondered if you have considered different options for getting your new toy rock solid on the deck. Such as bolting angle plates across the front and back to give it bigger footprint, clamping compared to bolting, etc. Any thoughtsl !
Thanks, Steve

Ah! You noticed that did you DJ? Trouble is, since the last time, Mrs Tel keeps a close eye on her toof brush.
Yes Steve, I had thought of an angle extension at the front (chuck) end - the back end can get a bit busy, especially when it's set up for compound gearing, so I can't see any practical way of extending that end - perhaps a 'temp' angle in the accessory box, for bolting on when in 'simple' mode.

That's pretty neat Tel. Mind you, you could have used a different gadget at a mere £1500 a pop! JB
