Pop in to the models section of Traction Talk, Edward George who produces the castings is a regular there as well as Dave Kearley (author of "A dream comes true" )who has finished a 3" and is now onto a 6" LS. www.tractiontalkforum.com/I would recommend dave's books mentioned above (via e-bay) and a copy of Edwards book which you can get details of on the LS site, there is also a LS builders group, details of daves book in the following thread modeleng.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=trade&action=display&thread=2774I think the largest you will need to swing is 12" for the flywheel but if you go with the cast wheels they are 18", the spoked ones come as rolled steel hoops so don't need to go in the lathe. Hi jason. Thanks for the reply and the information on webb sites. I have spoke to Edward George to check afew things out with him. I have also contacted the two boiler manufactuers to get prices for the boiler, was quite reasonable compaired to copper boilers. However I have no experience of insureing and operating steel boiler, hense my thread on the boilers section of this site. I think the little Samson looks a crackin little engine, I liked the idea of spoked wheels rather than the cast ones, hav'nt got a clue how difficult they are to build but we'll cross that bridge when we get their. I think i could get the flywheel sorted by using a friends lathe. One last hurdle is to sell a project I have on the go to finance the boiler.
Regards Martyn.

The spoked wheels on the LS look quite easy as there are not that many spokes or rivits, I've just finished the rears on my 2" Fowler (10spokes vs 16) All TE use the same method and its quite straightforward.
Re your boiler question there are plenty of members on TT running steel TE Boilers as well as a couple of boiler (steel) makers on there.
