Hi all, these tags make for incredible if a little frightening reading.I imagine that most of these posts apply to the 5 inch gauge 1400.Does anyone here have the 71/4 gauge version,if so,were these as much trouble? If you know of a 7.25 owner, I would really like to speak to him. Thanks.

Hi there I built a 7 ¼” gauge Winston 1400 on behalf of a fellow club member (who didn’t have the required fully equipped workshop!), which was finished about a year ago. Its runs well and I’m fairly pleased with the result given the overall quality of the kit. Was it much trouble? Well, it would be much quicker and easier to list the components that didn’t require some form of fettling/modification/scrapping and remaking... Attachments:

I have a 7.25 inch 14XX still only about 50% finished due to problems, moving house etc. The problems started from the day that I opened the first kit back in 1999 but I still refuse to give up although I am in the process of receiving some help from a locomotive builder from within my own club. As has already been mentioned it would be easier to mention what hasnt gone wrong with it, to do otherwise would fill a page on this site
