This is a lot more work [and expense] than I expected , that's just over 1/3 completed. Ron

I appreciate the hard work required to lay the track bed Ron. I helped dig my local railways trackbed by hand... Is that a buffer at the end? Beautiful garden BTW. It'll be a pleasure to drive round when complete.

Hi Tim It's actually a convenient tree stump, but I think I'll make or buy a proper buffer, it looks a bit unfinished without one. I'll need to move the Rhododendron nearest the camera next winter, it's a variety that grows quite large. The garden has been the problem, during the winter it looked an easy run but all sorts of things that I'd forgotten about sprouted in the spring and had to be moved before I got started, the good thing is the line is quite discreet and doesn't spoil the view of the garden from the house and the granite 'ballast' matches what is used on paths elsewhere in the garden. Ron PS It would help if it would stop raining for a change

Expensive stuff Ron, but that joint on the corner looks a bit iffy - otherwise, well done. As I said in the coal thread, I think mine will have to wait till I migrate back to the Philippines where I have oodles of land and multitudinous willing helpers.

Further progress, the bend has been completed and the first run of the Simplex was done last weekend successfully, another 30ft to go. The Monkey Puzzle is an unusual railway hazard Ron

Nice work Ron. Your beautiful garden and all-important track make me very jealous Tim.
