In MEW magazine Issue 150 (May 2009) there is an article re "Workpiece Clamping" which, as a noob who has only just acquired a lathe and drill press, I found very informative. However, it does not state anywhere that I can see what material is used to make the clamps etc. - presumably aluminium? Does it matter what "grade" is used? All comments welcomed!! Regards, A

Hello, If you intend to make clamping tooling for your mill or lathe...then I would suggest that a good quality Steel be used...mainly for your own safety as Aluminum wil in time distort and bend or break . All the best for now, John.
