After a bit of a spell working on another project I have got back on the main project and completed Boadicea's smoke box fittings with the addition of a dummy whistle. The real whistle will be under the smoke box. The Perrier drawings show a 3 chime whistle is this correct for the Britannias? Jim

They had a whistle similar to the A4's. Some of the BR std class 5's had chimes fitted vertically behind the chimney. I have a drawing to make a 3 note chime using 1/2" K&S thinwall brass tube.

Thanks for that informtion. I have an article from an old ME on constructing a 3 chime whistle and it sounds similar to the one you have Simon. Our local hobby shop stocks K&S 1/2" tube so it'll be my first port of call tomorrow ie, Monday. Thanks again Jim

I don't think he made profit on them as I'm sure we only paid equivalent of photocopy costs for them. They have a very well designed steam supply & slot fitting which is what makes them so good. He lists measurements for the 2 GWR bells, the LNER shrieker, the LNER chime and the LMS hooter. The hooter is good, it doesn't go into overtone although it does need to be kept very hot, the condensate which comes out is unbelievable! The shrieker would probably come under H&S regs for ear protection, it hurts!
