I have just uploaded a set of photos of the 5" gauge BR Mk 1 BSK which I built using a Doug Hewson kit. Much extra detail was added after researching books and from photos taken by myself. Here's one of the photos: The rest are here: www.flickr.com/photos/mkrj/sets/72157614326808581/Have a look at the other sets of photos while you're there. Mike

A rake of these would look good behind my Geo Stephenson. Sapper

Very nice work, details look great. I remember Doug doing the drawings for the bogies ages ago in EIM, complex but very good replicas.

Whether you build it from a kit or from scratch , this quality and finish needs a lot of patience , very nice indeed .

I would love to have a rake of them but the time spent just making one, let alone the cost of the kits now, is prohibitive. Well, at least until I win Lotto! I had intended to build up a rake of them for my Black 5 to haul. This took a couple of years of evenings ( not every evening) to build. At the moment then, the answer is "one". It would look alright behind a Jinty I guess!
Having said that, I believe that now it is finished it is worth quite a bit more that the cost of the kit- that is to anyone willing to pay and who wants to have one ready to run. Maybe I should take orders for making up kits!?
Thanks to everyone for all your comments about my carriage. It was an interesting excercise which gave me a much better understanding of how and why certain things are done. Next a whole lot of wagons I think.........mass production...... long mineral trains....
