As part of my junk clearence I've acquired another lathe! So I've now got three. This one is a very pretty little affair looking rather like a Cowells and about the same sort of size: 1.75" centre height plus a bit in the gap and 8" between centres. Same sort of quality too. The tailstock is bored for 8mm horological collets. I think the headstock is 10mm horological. It is built like the proverbial outhouse and the motor and countershaft are mounted on a frame to which the lathe is secured. The word Wakefield is cast in big letters on the bed. Whether this is the name of the firm that made it or where they were based I don't know (I used to have Wakefield Trinity as clients many years ago btw) So far I've failed out find out anything about it in my reference books or on the web including www.lathes.co.uk. Does anyone know anything about it please?

I think they may have advertised in ME, way back. Probably the 1940's or so. I suspect they were made by one of the "known" firms and that name was a sales brand rather than the manufacturer.
That is, if the memory is working OK!!
