Hi, As many parts these days are made from Alloy can any one suggest the best under coat to use.

Do you mean an undercoat or primer
I suspect its the primer which is the first coat, for any of the non ferrous metals the best way to get the paint to stay on is to use an etch primer, this contains acid which "bites" the surface.
Precision Paints do several etch primers as well as suitable thinners.
If you are just running on air you can get away with a good degreasing using a solvent, (I tend to use celulose thinners) and then a can of car spray primer will be adequate

Thank you for your help. I had been round halfords looking at there paint but did not see this.
It may be expensive but for the small amounts used it would last quite some time.
