To help people who want to have a Steam engine and can not afford a boiler in copper, what about helping them with the construction of steel boilers with the fire tubes in copper, to increase the heat transfer for better performance. Please any opinion be very helpful.

Unless that was specified in the original design, you are moving into the realms of "new design" with all the legal complxity that involves. Yes, it can be done, but is not just a matter of changing steel tubes to copper.
The actual benefits are not as great as one would imagine, and there are some drawbacks.
Having once built a steel boiler with Cu tubes, I would forget the idea.

Hello Alan, All my T/E boilers now have copper tubes, full test after fitting and no problems so far. They all steam very well. Will you please let me into the drawbacks please either here or by e-mail. Thank you albert

My boilers all have copper tubes I wouldn't have anything else. Copper tubes will last as long as the steel barrel. The late Bill Kirkland well known in the steam engine world cut a boiler in half after 30 years running , the steel barrel had reduced by 1/4 of its thickness. but the copper tubes were OK. The Chesterfield clubs Tinkerbelle was fitted with steel tubes which didn't last long, they replaced them with steel, why? because they had them given. ewal

We've got thousands in the bank but mention that the new traverser lift should really have a recirculating ball screw at £199 instead of a tired old second-hand leadscrew and nut? "What!" "We can't afford that!" they say. Never mind that the traverser will service thousands of pounds of public running revenue! This mind-set conversion process might take a while..... JB

I have an interest in the Chesterfield Tink as it was built using my plans & patterns . I had a free ride at the last open day. Some time ago I was asked if they could borrow my Garrett, they would collect & return it, I said OK but its not insured.
