I have just completed a fun task of milling out my grandson's nickname into a sheet of brass. I have recessed the background leaving the letters at the original height. What I want to do now is back fill the milled area with a red or black compound then polish the name plates. These will then find their way onto an engine I have been building for him. He is still none the wiser that it is for him. He thinks it is for someone else. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I go about filling this area? JB

I just use ordinary old gloss enamel John, even a spray pack will do. Then just rub it face down on fine wet 'n dry tp polish the raised areas

Just added a shot of one of my etched nameplates John - it's a bit small 'cos I pulled it off a bigger shot of the Simplex

JB,
I have done the same with nameplates ie] milled them and filled with paint. Polish the letters first and jub off any excess paint before its gone too hard with a suitable solvent ~~~ I usually use SWMBO's nail varnish remover.

Lee, Thanks for the referral. I have just had a quick look and will read the printout in full. I often wondered how it was done. Thanks again, John B
