Hi everyone Update on my 3 1/2 William, have finished frames, buffer beams and nearly completed all the stretchers. Looking good so far. Have now received all the boiler materials. So looking to the future, I was wondering about the type off plastic that can be used for the acid in the pickling solution. And also, how long will the solution last. IE will you need a fresh mix after so many pickling sessions. Cheers Garry in sunny Jersey

HI Garry I pinched the inner cylindrical plastic liner out of the kitchen bin when doing my Simplex boiler. The managment was very impressed though! Andy

If you've got room, a plastic dustbin will work. In fact I hijacked the domestic dustbin for my sweet pea boiler and simply lined it with - wait for it - a bin liner. Well actually a black bin bag, but it held the pickle (citric acid) fine.

I use a plastic "Fun Bucket" from Homebase. Available in bright red with handles. Cost around £8 from memory.
