Could anyone give me the name of a good reliable metal and plastic stock supplier who will sell small quantities and send them to North Wales by carrier or post.
I am presently making a model Stirling engine and it is quite difficult getting materials around here.
Thank you

I would suggest surfing the web for Model Engineering suppliers most I would think will post materials to you. Try Maidstone Engineering Services based in Staplehurst KENT. I'm sure you will find plenty, you could also look at the links on various society web pages or even look at the links on the following website, homeworkshop.org.uk Normal disclaimer just a sattisfied customer.

I've used; EKP Supplies The Old Workshop Bratton Fleming Nr Barnstaple North Devon EX31 4SA Tel/Fax: 01598-710892 They're a good price with a very quick mail order delivery, they do steam fittings and BA bolts etc as well. [I've no connection with them] I've also done quite well over time buying metal on Ebay for stock, but that obviously depends on your luck at the time. The nuisance with buying small quantities of metal mail order is quite often the postage is more than the metal Ron

Also a Mallard customer. So far no problems apart from the postage being higher than the metal...

Suggestion for board admin: Why not put all these (and any other) suppliers into their own 'Suppliers' section, it could be just a list with a disclaimer at the top.

Hi Stirling I have used; Mallard Metals, GLR, Blackgates and Macc Models for my supplies. I have no connection with any, other than as a satisfied customer. When buying I list my requirements and phone around and see who offers the best value. So far for the majority of my 'material' supplies I think Macc has come out the best, the prices you will see quoted include VAT and postage so you do know the full cost before you get carried away! www.maccmodels.co.uk/ I think GLR www.modelmakingsupplies.co.uk/ have been the best for castings and the like. Others here may have their favourites, these are mine and they have no problem supplying me in Northern Ireland. Cheers Brian
