Alan, The photos are great. It was a big turn out of displays by the look of it. Cheers, John B

Great pictures Allan. It looked like a great rally. I am jealous that we don't have anything of that scale down here.

Hi Alan, Mike told me you were making the place unsafe on Saturday. Sorry we missed each other as I was then at the Thames Boat rally. It was indeed a good rally at Guildford. Much better as the last one I visited. Quite a few outstanding models. Seems the more modern gang is taking over now with an impressing display of petrol engines. I like the multi cylinder ones although I must admit it’s way over for me. Had a word with the regulars, Roy Darlington and Anthony Mount. The later one amazes me every time coming up with a new design. Also had a prolonged stay at the Martin Howes and Baylis marine steam stand. If I can’t have the real steam launch … might be one of their kits is the answer. A bit pricy but by the looks of the materials everything is of good quality. Might be a future project. Well worth the trip. O … by the way I still quite understand the quotations for the ferry. This trip was charged at 111 eur for the car and 2 passengers. For the2 extra passengers we paid at the gate 7 eur to and from. Does this mean a foot passenger can go on a 3 day return trip for 3.50 eur. Now that’s low budget and no they did not have to wash dishes on the way. ;D Regards Wilfried Vermeiren users.skynet.be/modelbouw.wilfried

Wilfried, I would have liked to make the Sunday, and to have met you again, but was unable to.
Yes, there were some superb exhibit. The gas turbine loco's, although not to my taste, were unusal, worked well, and were surprisingly quiet.
As for ferries, I see that Ostend-Ramsgate route is re-opening. That used to be my favourite way, and also used to be the cheapest.
