Here are a few on how to make the flared corners. After the side flares were fitted up and held in place with Cleco fasteners, card board patterns were made. Here a piece of card stock is being held in place and marked with a pencil. Attachments:

Here the pattern has been stuck to the table with masking tape, and a center point has been established so that an arc can be struck that will determine the top edge. Attachments:

The pattern has been cut out and transferred to .050" brass sheet and the brass sheet has been cut out using the bandsaw. The work piece has been made a bit oversize to allow a fudge factor for trimming later. Attachments:

The work piece has been well annealed and hand formed to fit the corner. Now it is being marked with a Sharpie to locate the offset where it will be tucked under the side flare. Attachments:

To form the offset small pieces of sheet metal the same thickness as the side flares have been stuck to the corner flare with masking tape using the Sharpie mark as a guide. One piece of sheet metal on each side. Attachments:

Now our work piece is receiving a good mash using the hydraulic press. If you don't have a press, a milling machine, or machinists vise will do. Attachments:

Both ends offset. In front of the corner flare is a curved piece that will be silver soldered on and will rivet to the vertical corner of the tender side sheet. Attachments:

Here is the corner flare with both offsets formed and clamped in place. In the past I have made these from a single piece of brass and hammer formed the vertical bit that rivets to the side sheets. I think it is easier to make this part from two pieces and silver solder it together. Attachments:

Here is a look at the other side. Now it will be riveted in place and then trimmed across the top. Next up, the half round beading. Happy Model Building Jack Attachments:
