I would like to construct a 5 inch guage raised track driving trolley. Something like four wheels, a handbrake, basic suspension, foot support and a seat. Would like to hear from anyone who has constructed one recently, and even more from anyone with some plans and knows of sources of brakes etc. I have got as far as finding a source for the wheels and axles but have to come up with a design. OK, it is small beer compared to building a loco but everyone has to start somewhere! Have made my email address available for responses. Thank you and kind regards, Tony.

PNP brake blocks are very good (http://pnp-railways.co.uk/), the rest of the system is just steel strip and rod, just make sure that your get at about 8 times mechanical advantage. feel free to copy the way I did mine, I'll be taking it to harrowgate so you can see close up how I did it. If you can weld then something like this gets really easy, the horn guides are just BDMS 10mm square welded to the frame, although there is no reason that you couldn't bolt it together.
if you have any specific questons I'll do my best to answer them, I'm just not as good at writing as I am at engineering!

I should be there on friday, just look for the scruffiest person on the huddersfield stand. something like a driving truck looks complicated until you look at the parts in the right order, eg. if the axle boxes have to xx far apart then the frame has to be at least as wide so on and so forth. just discide figure out which dimentions you can't alter, then those it would difficult to change and so on, when I started to do this the design became alot easier.
