Ran the Simplex chassis on compressed air this afternoon on the RH cylinder only with no rings or gland packing, it ran well in both directions but slightly better in reverse so I'll need to check the valve settings again.

Nice one Ron! The next step is to attach a flexible airline and spend hours running the chassis up and down the bench! I've built three engines and they all ran better in reverse, one still does. I've come to the conclusion I must have been working from the wrong side of the bench when I set the valves!

I have built 21 engines and I found that that is the moment of success/reward of the hard work . Lift off is th word . It looks great , congratulation ,wish you all the best to the conclusion of the project .

Just joined this site. Excellent quality of work, Ron. Makes me jealous! You guys with access to laser-cut parts etc... I live in Malaysia and have been building a simplex since Feb last year - I'm somewhat ashamed to show my rusty workmanship in this 100% humidity environment - www.dr-john.orgAs to the eccentric rods, I have a little "billy-do" about them in my tips section. Keep up the good work - I will watch with interest John
