Hi all,
Apologies if this has been covered before. I have only just found this forum.
Has anyone got a suitable design for a ratchet type reverser? I would like to fit one to the Simplex I've been working on for the last couple of years instead of the screw reverser which must be a pain to use on a short track.
Thanks in advance, Russell.

Hi Russell,
any reverser for a 5" loco should be ok I would think. If you like I can have a look back through my ME's and scan a few drawings for you. I think Ron was going to fit one to his Simplex but I don't know if he came up with a suitable design.

Hi I ended up making the screw one but I still might make a pole one as well, I was going to scale up the one for Tich in the book I have if I do. I was also told a battery drill with an adapter for the handle of a screw reverser was a handy thing when driving on an up and down line!! Ron

Hi Guys, Thanks for the replies. John - yes I'd appreciate a scan of any drawings you may find so I can see how they work. DR - nice simple solution. I see it is mounted about 1/2 inch further back than the holes in my chassis. Is there a problem with space in the cab for a pole reverser?
Oh yes - and sorry for posting this in the wrong category!
Regards, Russell.

Hi Russell, If you have a look in the archive section of Station Road Steam quite a few of the Simplexes (Simpli ?) pictured there have pole reversers fitted so it's obviously a very common modification! www.stationroadsteam.co.uk/archive.htmJohn PS I like the electric drill idea Ron ;D
