Hi all, Things have been a bit quiet in the Simplex section lately so I thought I'd post a picture to show my progress so far: Hope that works, first time I've tried posting pictures here. Not a lot to show for three years work! I decided at Christmas that it was time to dismantle it and paint it before the grandchildren's sticky fingers make rust marks! I know I'll scratch it and have to do some touching up but at least I will not have to dismantle it completely for that. I'm trying to get the valve gear fettled and working smoothly at present and to determine the correct lengths for the eccentric rods. Martin Evans' instructions for this in his original articles strike me as being complete nonsense! Rgeards, Russell.

Good job Russell . likewise I paint as I go and of course one ends up with some scratches but as you say no dismantling and also there is paint on all parts .It is a compromise . ;D

Hi Ausdan,
I know what you mean about other commitments getting in the way of our hobby. Since I started this Simplex I have had a new house designed and built, made a garden from scratch, built a barbeque which doubles as a braising hearth, and gained a first dan in Kyudo.
Isn't retirement relaxing!
Russell.
