After two and a half years, finally raised steam and ran Simplex on the rolling road for a couple of hours on Saturday, much to my surprise nothing broke or fell off, the only thing I couldn't get to work was the injector. On Sunday I layed 60ft of track on a slabbed path and on Monday I finally got a play with it, it runs very well, quite evenly in both directions but i still can't get the injector to work, fortunately the main pump and the hand pump work OK. The boiler cladding is going to get painted satin black and lined to match the rest, I thought the brass cladding would look well but I don't really like it once it's all together. Thanks to all who helped with information and encouragement, I'll have a few weeks away from model engineering then start the Hunslet. Ron PS Had a lot of problems getting Photobucket to work!

Great stuff Ron. All we need now is you and DJ double heading ;D
You might find you've got a duff injector. Quite a few won't work straight from the bag without a bit of tweaking. If you are running at 110psi the steam cone might need shimming out a bit to increase the water supply through the combining cone.

A job well done , 2 1/2 years is not a along time in model building ,you have done well . The engine looks great . You do need a very longgggggggg coupling bar to double head with DJ . ;D
