Hello all, I'am new to the forum, I'am a member of steamgroup Radingspoor in The Netherlands www.radingspoor.nl A few months ago a bought a nearly finished Simplex from a member of our club who past away. This Simplex is under construction for about 10 years and I'am the fifth owner. I did some repair on it and made a new draincack and made the openings mechanisme for the draincocks. It has recently been running under air and I hope to run it under steam within the next weekes. I've studied al pictures on the forum and the picture and the nice site of DrJohn to get information about the Simplex. Here are some pictures Greetings, Arie

Hi Arie,
Thats a nice looking model - almost too nice to paint :-) Good luck with your first steam up.
From what I've seen most "new" engines seem to have problems with the lubricator and/or it's clack (non-return valve) so see if you can test these under pressure first.
Let us know how you get on.
Cheers Bryan

Thank you Bryan for your comment, I will check the clackvalves and the lubricator. Last Friday I've to the Simplex to our club meeting and we have found some serious troubles. The exhaust isn't properly aligned with the chimney and the steampipe runs through the cone from the exhaust to the chimney. After disassembling the chassis/boiler and smokebox I found that the smokebox/boiler have to move about 6 mm to the front to get a proper a alignment. I hope a can fix it this week so I can steam it up on Sunday. The site of Dr'John is quit helpfull of finding solutions.
Bye, Arie

Looks extremely nice, Arie. I hope you get as much enjoyment from it as I have from my Simplexes.

Arie , most of us have problems with our engines particularly at the beginning , that proves you are like most of us human , the engine looks great and I am sure you will overcome the issues and have a lot of fun with your engine , good luck .

Hallo,
Yesterday we had a BBQ and Ride-day ad our club. I've steamup the Simplex for the first time. It runned fine on the rollerbank and after borrowing a wagon it runned on the track. Every thing went well only I had a lot of leckage on the axle-pomp so I used the handpomp. The Simplex runned for about 4 houres and I steamed it up from zero three times. So I very happy with the result. When I was at home I found out the I lost a part of the bronze strap of the axle-pump and a spring. The bronze strap I've found to day on the track.
