We have just returned from a touring holiday in France and on our last morning called at the Centre Denis Papin in Oignies, near Lille.
I would recommend anyone passing by (close to motorway A1) to call in. They have an excellent clubhouse and facilities. Plus, on the same site is a full size loco under restoration, a collection of postal carriages plus a colliery winder and simulated mine museum. English speaking members are available by arrangement too!
