Andy, Guys,
Being a bit deficient in the spelling department I now find that I get a friendly plop when I request a "Spell Check".
Is it my end after having the usual routine operating system upgrades from Microsoft or is it site related?
Narrowing it down, is it a Java thing? I've not changed anything my end other than the OS patches.

Hi Steve,
I just spell-checked/chequed your text here, and it worked fine. I guess it has to be something at your end.
Regards
Geoff

Hi Steve, What browser are you using ? If you are still using Internet Exploder then installing the upgrade may have altered your security level. I've just had a play with IE and noticed that if you set the security level to 'high' the spell check box appears but doesn't do anything. Setting the level back to medium restores it's functionality. Perhaps some other settings have changed as well. Personally I now use Mozilla Firefox (free download) which is a far superior product (no connection, just a satisfied user) John

Baggo,
I'm using Internet Exploder like I guess most others here but update things when Microsoft publish another routine faux pas fix. And I have thought about trading up to one of the other browsers but I'll need to get one of those "roundtoit" thingys first.
I have the thing set to "medium" security and it just doesn't work. Of course it will be a major chase to find what they made better. If I knew the mechanism used by the spell checker I could pin it down quicker.
If other folk out there also allow MS to keep their XP up to date maybe they also have a 'broken spellers'. The thing is it worked the other day and doesn't now.

Have you tried holding down the "cntl" key while you hit the spell checker button?

Phil,
Never heard of the Ctrl Key but just tried it and it worked a treat. Begs the question "what does it do differently?".
The "Alt+C" described triggers a pop-up and they get blocked for all the good reasons.
So a result, just hold down Ctrl and click on "Spell Check". Thanks.
