Hi, I am building the mountaineer. One of our club members said that he recalls a problem with the boiler water gauge not reading correctly. If this is so is there a solution to this possible problem.... The boiler is built and tested OK. I would like to fix any problems before mounting the boiler on the chassis..
Thanks
Paul

What you mean by not reading correctly ? is it over reading /under reading or fluctuating water level . I assume the last is the problem and the cause would be NOT FREE FLOW of water , in our code it is required to have a minimum clear passage of 3 mm through the water gauge , I don't know what is the requirement in UK but restriction can cause problems . The other problem can be if the distance between the back of the bottom bush and fire box back plate is too little , in our code a minimum of 4mm is required . I hope that helps .

Hi there down under... Yes I think the word priming was used. so yes a fluctuating water level in the glass. There is plenty of space between the boiler plates and I will make sure water passages a large enough. Thanks for the advice.
