The fact that John just has a cosmetic restoring mechanism bears out my feeling that the lifting arm mechanism is more than adequate without the need of the help of, as in my case a very light spring. I'd go with the cosmetic option in view of John's observations.

I thought it was high time to have an update here! Well there is the problem. They were with the loco when I got her. However the price labels were still on showing £85 each !
After some detective work they are the Dave Nobel ones I think.
