Back in 1966 John Hanning did a set of articles for a BB1 ploughing engine. Whilst I have the set of drawings I have no idea of where I could get the set of castings from. The original article suggested that they had had about 90 patterns made...
Does anyone know of a supplier of the castings?

Hi Tel,
Sadly whilst they do the 16NHP single and the Z7, they do not list the BB1. Some of the 16NHP bits could be used... I have contacted Brunell and am waiting for them to get back to me to see if they know of a supplier.
I know that the castings were available back in the early 80's as Joe Challis used some of the Hannings casting to make his excellent 2" engine (I have both Joe's and John H's Drawings).

The bb1 ploughing engine was a joint design by John Haining and a gentleman who's name I cannot recall. The other person had all the patterns and supplied the castings. I purchased some castings myself in the early 70's from this gent but never made the engine and sold them. I think this person is no longer with us. The same as the patterns ?.

Roger is correct! Colin Tyler's son used to sell castings after his father died, but a search on the net reveals no further information. I'm sure he advertised in ME a few years ago.

Many thanks guys
Looks as if a I need to trawl through some old ME's as Brunell failed to identify a supplier.

Hello Jo, back again, I meant to tell you that ''BLACKGATES'' do the drawings for the ''BB'' it may not be the one you want but they might have the castings. cheers, John.

Thanks John,
I already have the John Hanning drawings, the articles in the ME were rather short in detail and the drawings are none too clear. Hence Joe Challis redrew a number of them.
I am still looking for contact details for Colin Tyler's son to explore the possibilities of castings. Does any one know what name he trades under? I did note in one of the 1966/67 ME's John H & Colin T signed off as being in Camberley, Surrey... Exactly where I work......
