Hi all
My friend needs to know the boiler capacity or the barlitre figure for his Winson 5" 14XX which I am guessing is exactly the same as the Modelworks version. It has just passed it's hydraulic test after several years standing in his hallway but his old certificates don't give the barlitre figure required on current certificates. Thanks in advance.

Hi, empty the boiler, use a measuring jug borrowed from the kitchen, measuring in millilitres and litres, I use a 2 litre plastic one, and pour in water in two litre ammounts until the boiler is full. make a note of the total ammount put in, ie 3 jugfuls is 6 litres and so on, and the total ammount is your answer. This test should be done individually, because boilers of the same design can vary. make sure that you do not spill any water in the process. Alternatively, you could fill the boiler to the brim, and measure the contents as you empty it. I advise noting the volume on the boiler with a permanant marker. Hope this helps.
