Lads, I have been given a commission to build a replacement boiler for the Bond's Royal Scot which I will begin in a few weeks. I've not been able to find drawings or any other information for that matter anywhere but I'll have the old boiler (an awful bash of a thing) to work from, with the usual associated difficulties. For those not familiar with "the usual associated difficulties" a replacement boiler is never exactly like the old one and certain minor fitting adjustments of some kind are always needed during reassembly. However a new boiler is a good opportunity, the only opportunity, to make improvements and bring an older design up to more current standards.
Any information anyone has on this loco would be appreciated. I will make a design assumption that the boiler WP was between 80psi and 100psi but the original pressure, if known by anyone, would be helpful. I will post an occasional progress report.

K, Thank you. Yes I had seen mention it was a Greenly design (or collaboration) and it appears Maxitrak have exactly what I need. I'm glad to know all this material is preserved. Now awaiting a response to my request for cost.
PS - The worst luck! Although Maxitrak have the drawings for Royal Scotts in Gauges 1 - 2.5" - 5" - 7.25" & 10.25, there are NO drawings for the in Bonds/Greenly 3.5"ga version!

hi i have loaned eight drawings of a bonds of euston 3.5" gauge royal scot.they are very old and fragile, however i have managed to photo copy seven of the drawings, you are welcome to loan them if you wish? on these drawings the boiler is shown as being an lbsc boiler. the drawings are shown as thus- no 1 general arrangement(this is the only drawing at the moment i am unable to copy because it is to fragile to be copied by going through a photocopier that has rollers..the drawing is 37"x19.5" no 2 is main frames no 3 is cylinder and valve gear detail no 4 is valve gear arrangement and bogie and motion details no 5 is lbsc boiler no 6 is smokebox detail and lubricator no 7 is the tender no 8 is tender and minor details. i must stress that i am no engineer i own an old royal scot and i am trying to rebuild it and some of the cladding is in need of renewing hence why i have been trying to obtain drawings. i cannot see on the drawing where it states what the pressure of the boiler should be ,no doubt you would be able to tell.
best regards malcom coles
