2 Years 3 months on and I have just finished building my first model traction engine the 6"Ruston Proctor. Here are some pics: img832.imageshack.us/img832/5412/027az.jpgimg193.imageshack.us/img193/6383/034hzf.jpgimg407.imageshack.us/img407/6172/031yp.jpgimg17.imageshack.us/img17/2620/032hm.jpgSpent the last few days steaming it and after curing a few leaks and getting the safety valve to work correctly im quite pleased with it. Many thanks To Albert who has patiently answered all my (hundreds) of questions. No thanks to the crook i met on another forum who offered to cut the teeth on my gear blanks and then decided to keep them. (Fortunately at the court case the judge agreed with me and the bailiffs persuaded him to give them back). I now need to learn how to drive it properly. I have already learnt (painfully) that you cant stop it in reverse by putting your feet down on the ground. Actually ,you can just about, but it results in big scabs on your shins and flattens your toes. Mike

That is one heck of a project. 6" scale makes for an awful lot of work!
The end result looks superb. I am sure you must have been thrilled at its first run.

Hello Mike, Your engine looks spot on,it should run better than it looks.(that will take some doing) It was a pleasure to help a fellow model engineer, especially when they listen to help given, you should of course ask others and put all the replies together to solve your problem.( there are more ways of solving a problem than one) My engine photo is on CDMES web site should any one be interested. My Ruston was my 6th traction engine,No7 a Garrett which I have helped a friend to build is now running,No 8&9 I have started pattern making,2 Savage Tractors.
Albert.

I have ordered the drawings for the 6in scale R&P SD TRACTOR. Cant wait to start on it,as it will be a nice size engine to road here in the USA.
