Has anyone had any experience using the compressed sawdust pellets in their boilers? I have been told by the local distributors that they produce the same heat. They are being used in this area in slow combustion heaters that self feed from a built in hopper using a small auger that you can adjust the speed of and thereby regulate the amount of heat comming from the heater. I am going to take some to Mudgee next month to trial it but thought someone else may have used it in the meantime. Regards to all, JB

I think I'd be concerned about resinous products gunging everything up. I know it can be a problem with woodburning stoves if things don't get hot enough to ensure complete combustion.
Was this ever a problem with woodburning locomotives?

Yep, I think that you might have to develop a different driving technique to use 'em. I know my kitchen stove has to be 'driven' pretty hard to be effective.
