How are the tiny holes in the small number 8 to 12 sizes of threaded gas jets made? I have tried to make my own jets by piercing a shim end cap with something like a sewing needle and while it was fairly successful it was also a bit haphazard and unpredictable. This problem arose because the burner location on my T boiler is not a 'standard size' hole and I have had to make my own burner assembly. img uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/john1noakes/detail?.dir=/1350re2&.dnm=2bcare2.jpg&.src=ph /img img uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/john1noakes/detail?.dir=/1350re2&.dnm=c454re2.jpg&.src=ph /img Though the combustion gives a clean flame, arriving at this has been a bit of trial and error. I have failed to find any design information on the web suitable for a burner of the type needed for my boiler and wonder if anyone can suggest some references please. If you have seen this post in the 'Images' section I am trying to show my pictures in the text so this is by way of a test. John [/img]

Hi John,
Eric had the same problem when he tried to use images in a Yahoo photoalbum - it doesn't work! You have to put the images in Photobucket or similar. The problem with albums such as Yahoo is that you cannot link directly to the images, only to the page that they are on. Also it looks like you are deleting the brackets around the image tags?

Hi again John, I remember reading some time ago about a chap who made gas fired locos in 000 gauge and smaller! He made his own jets which were in the order of 1 thou diameter. I've managed to find the website again which may be of interest to you as he describes how he made his jets. www.fielder-rowe.freeserve.co.uk/steam.htmlIt's fascinating reading for anyone interested in live steam. He did a series of articles in ME volumes 117 and 118 on ultra-miniture live steam. John

Hello John,
Thanks for your guidance re posting photos. I do have a Photobucket account so I'll have to try that as you suggest.
I'll have a look at the link for gas jets in a while, we are in the middle of a thunder storm just now and it's been suggested that I turn off the computer!!!

I knew it had all been done before! Thanks for the 000 gauge and camera pinhole articles.
When I have another picture to show I'll use Photobucket and hopefully it will work, instant pictures are much better than having to go to another web site.
